Let’s welcome Minami-ke: Okawari!!!

So Minami-ke had just ended 2 days before the start of 2008. For those who are getting Monday Blues because of this, don’t worry because the second version of Minami-ke, entitled Minami-ke: Okawari, (Literally: One more bowl; Meaning-wise: One more time. According to Misakichii) will be airing soon on 6 January. There remains our weekly dosage of light humour infused with even cuter pictures of Kana.

According to many anime blogs which I’ve read, most of them prefer the first version to the second, mainly because they dislike the art in the latter. However, I actually feel that the art in the second version is much better, as the colours used are more vibrant and the Minami sisters’ faces have more expression than in the first.

Kana definitely looks cuter here…

Humour-wise, I hope that the second version can at least maintain the same standard which the first carries, or even better, defeating even the funniest of all animes, Lovely Complex. This will definitely be one of the animes which I’m looking forward to in this season of winter, alongside Rosario + Vampire, H20 ~Footprints in the Sand~ (Shouldn’t the ‘2′ be a subscript here? Maybe I’m too obssessed with Chemistry…), They are my Noble Masters, and Hatenkō Yugi. The others don’t seem to appeal that much to me… Autumn is after all the best season for the debuts of animes.

10 Hours Special. I repeat. 10 HOURS SPECIAL

In the last episode, I suppose this was the scene which made my brain go haywire and I just couldn’t control my laughters. These ‘Sensei and Ninomiya-kun’ extra scenes are wonderful laughters-inducers. I suppose none would disagree with me on this. A pity the last episode was aired in the first version. I really do wish that Okawari will have a sequel to ‘Sensei and Ninomiya-kun’…

Besides that Ninomiya scene, the rest of the episode was quite monotonous for me. I personally prefer Myself; Yourself’s ending much more than this. It seems that it’s extremely hard for a comedy to end off well, since most comedies don’t even have a plot to begin with. They will usually end off with some stupid characters doing stupid acts. Lucky Star’s Minoru and Minami-ke’s Hosaka are 2 great examples.

If you see this constellation in the sky, slap yourself hard.

Until then, let’s wait patiently for 6 January to arrive! I certainly can’t wait to see the cuter Kana in the hot springs…
