True Tears: The Fourth Instalment of KyoAni’s Holy Trinity?

With the arrival of winter comes another great anime: True Tears. I believe that one of the biggest attractions of this anime is its OP, Reflectia, which is sung by Riya from Eufonius, the same person who ‘perfectized’ Chiisana Te no Hira and Megumeru.
In my opinion, I feel that this anime is quite similar to Kanon 2006, Air, and Clannad (The Holy Trinity of KyoAni) with its beautifully-drawn girls almost close to perfection, its plot which contains a tinge of supernatural, and its marvellous OP, Reflectia. I’m definitely looking forward to its BGMs now…
The Opening Theme

For a moment, I thought that True Tears was quite similar to Clannad as both use fluttering flower petals in both their introductions. Indeed, both have awed me, no doubt.
Reflectia by Eufonius
As expected from a song by Eufonius, I totally love this one and it’s definitely much better than Megumeru. (Oops, I hope I didn’t anger any Clannad fans here…) Two thumbs up for Reflectia!
The graphics at the front introducing the various characters have a fantasy-like feeling to them, and this synchronized by Reflectia’s perfect beginning make this one of my favourite OPs of all times. Though I must admit, they could actually have done a better job with the chorus. I’m not sure why they show a mountain with a small stationary screen in front of it showing various scenes in the anime which don’t make that much of an impact as they should have since it’s the chorus. I hope the mountain sure has something important to do with the anime. But it most probably doesn’t.
The Girls
It’s now time to introduce the girls! First to make her appearance is the main female protagonist, Hiromi Yuasa!

I love her hair.

Bathroom scene
Following up next is the tsundere(?) Aiko Andō!

Her flaming-red hair is cool.

She’s blushing.
Last but certainly not least… My favourite of the three, Noe Isurugi! Her fantasy-like character appeals 100% to me. I simply love such characters. Notable examples include Kamio Misuzu from Air, Nagisa Furukawa and Tomoyo Sakagami from Clannad, and Kawasumi Mai from Kanon 2006 etc.

Beautiful!!!

I definitely want to see more of her.
Will this anime be similar to Key’s visual novels whereby each girl has her own story to tell? Or maybe their stories are intertwined? Well, either way, I believe this anime is going to be one of the highlights in this season of winter.
The Boys

Shinichirō Nakagami and Miyokichi Nobuse
The Plot
Alright, I admit that I’m lazy to write this section, but still I’m not that bad as to leave this completely out. Here are some links to other anime blogs should you want to find out more about the story of True Tears.

The Ending Theme

Chibified characters!
The graphics are comparable to Dango Daikazoku – Both are equally cute! Though I can’t say the same for the song. It doesn’t leave that big of an impression on me.
Sekai no Namida by Aira Yuki
Conclusion
It’s definitely a must-watch besides H20 ~Footprints in the Sand~ in this season of winter. It’s a pity that this anime only has 13 episodes. The fun and anticipation will end in just a mere 3 months. Anyway, let’s just look forward to the next episode!
If you want to watch this anime, grab it from Baka-Wolf! Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Omg, I just love Noe too! Haha, and I go on Baka-Wolf too to download most of my anime. My username is valentinne btw. Yeah, I just saw your post on true tears about hu ur favourite character is and i was pretty sure i heard lustrousrealm somewhere, so yeah, i found ur blog. Anyway, I think Noe should be main … the ED song sorta suggests that in a way, but I’m ok as long as we get to see more of her cuteness~~
