One Piece 486 – Ace is imprisoned in Impel Down!!!

Summary
The chapter begins by showing Absalom and Hogback celebrating their escape from Thriller Bark.
They read from the newspaper that Ace was brought to Impel Down by Blackbeard, and thought that the World Government has found themselves a trump card.
The next day after Moria was defeated, the Strawhat pirates were stocking up on provisions and jewelleries on their ‘Thousand Sunny’. Chopper then exclaimed that this was the first time he had ever seen so many wounds on Zoro’s body. Usopp was also surprised by how energetic Luffy was after that major battle on the previous day. There were two zombies who witnessed the entire situation and Sanji brought them to a secluded place and asked them what exactly happened.
After explaining to Sanji, the two zombies wanted to tell everyone else about it, but was stopped by Sanji. He was worried about Luffy’s reaction if he found out the truth. Unknown to everyone, Robin actually eavesdropped on them with her ability and besides Sanji, she was the only other Strawhat pirate to know about the truth behind this incident.
The party then began. Zoro was still unconscious amidst all this noise. Brook offered to play ‘Wine in Pink’, an old pirates song, using the piano available. Luffy then asked Brook to be his nakama.
Brook told Luffy that he had to fulfill a promise first, if not he is not fit to be a man. Luffy knew he was referring to Laboon, and thus, he told him all he knew about Laboon. Brook was touched to tears upon knowing that Laboon was still waiting for him.
Flashbacks were then shown of Brook and his fellow pirate crew members meeting a small and cute whale on the vast ocean. They thought that the whale was lost, and thus decided to play a song to cheer him up. They succeeded.
End
This is indeed a miracle.

Personal Opinions
Great!!! It’s now time for a new story arc!!! Gaining themselves a new nakama, the Strawhat pirates are now ready for a new adventure!!! Though this time, I feel that Brook is actually kinda weak, and may be even weaker than Franky… I do hope that there will be a Logia Devil Fruit user on Luffy’s crew. This will certainly increase his crew’s strength exponentially.
So the result of the battle between Ace and Blackbeard? Ace was defeated and was sent to Impel Down. I suppose this spells trouble for Blackbeard. Whitebeard, being a pirate who values brotherhood a lot, is bound to kill Blackbeard now. I bet this time, he wouldn’t be as stupid to send Marcus, the 1st Division Commander. He should just jolly well go and kill Blackbeard himself. The battle of the Beards is one which I guess everyone is waiting for.
Since this is already headline news, I suppose Luffy should know about this sooner or later. When he hears about his own brother being captured in Impel Down, just imagine what he’ll do. There’s no doubt he’ll hunt for Blackbeard himself. I suppose (and hope) that the next story arc is about Luffy’s hunt for Blackbeard.
But I suppose Whitebeard would rescue Ace first by charging into the World Government. This should be quite an easy feat for him since he is one of the Yonkou. Maybe Shanks will aid him just this once? If that’s the case, the World Government is doomed for sure! They certainly can’t handle two of the Yonkou at once. That’s for sure.
I’m really excited now!

Maybe if it’s only whitebeard alone it would be impossible… That’s why I hope Shanks will assist him =) And yea, One Piece is definitely exciting! Though it will take about another 10 or 20 years for the story to be completed…

@lustrous realms: firstly, a logia would imbalance the crew no end. because it will be just one guy taking down so many people, leaving no room for the Strawhats to grow in power. Secondly, don’t put Brook down because he isn’t a hyped up superman like Zorro, Franky, Sanji or Luffy. He is what the crew needs, another weak member, to have a broad spectrum of power.
Whitebeard will probably make some kind of move against the world government or Blackbeard, and since BB is a shichibukia, then the two are now one and the same. He doesn’t seem to me to be the kind of man who would attack the world government for no reason, he has had years of experience with hostage situations, and knowing that Ace is in the hands of the world government, I think he might barter for his release. Blackbeard is certainly going to go down in WB black book, but I feel that Whitebeard recognizes that sending in captain after captain isn’t going to help, and possibly get someone expendable, like mercenaries, to go and hunt for blackbeards head.
As for dragon intervening, he might do, but i feel that he will be too busy working on the revolution to get Ace out. more importantly, Dragon would recognize that Ace got himself in there by his own choosing, to be a pirate and the hunt blackbeard. Also, he knows that Ace will never submit and become a mercenary, so he might leave his son to bide his time, and wait until another (Luffy, possibly, or others) to come and rescue him.
Luffy might do something, but People would probably advise against it, as it is impossible for a anyone to get inside without blowing the place up, thereby drowning everyone inside. still, he might go, but he might not.

amorallyinsane@ Being a Logia user doesn’t necessarily equate to being imbal (extremely strong). We have seen how Luffy had pwned 2 of the strongest Logia users – Crocodile and Enel. There could be a weak Logia user for all we know, and it would be a nice addition to his crew.

I dont think WB would hire assasin as he denies shanks to do it, its his own matter. Second of all dragon isn’t ace’s father, and luffy said he wouldnt want him to be saved.

If Anyone Can reply on this it would be great.1st why aces name starts with portgas D. and not monkey d?is he not real brother of luffy?2nd ihear that he was captured to impel down and that he will be executed soon.also about whos gonna go rescue him is really a big question, luffy theres no way i believe.whitebeard maybe but the sichibukai are way to strong.also for dragon theres no way the revolucion going to help for the rescue of a prisoned man They have other things to do.

ACE IS NOT LUFFY REAL BROTHER.. ace is gold roger son b4 his excution he ask GARP luffy grandfather to take care of his son he don wan his son treat as a criminal.. so now ace took his mother sur name PORTAGAS.D.ACE.. ace don know tht his father was gold roger.. ACE only treat one man as his father tht is the greatest pirate, the strongest man in the world and the man who nearest to the ONE PIECE!!! HIS NAME IS PPL CALL HIM WHITEBEARD..

and luffys at impel down now so plus hes got boa hancock on his side plus jimbei is fighting the world goverment so that leaves only five schichbukai and if shanks does go mihawk wont fight him

When they say they will execute ace, i wonder; on the picture of ace on chapter 298 he got shot by a bunch of navie guys… so i ask myself if he can take bullets or not?

World Govt is way too strong for just Whitebeard to take down. They got shichibukai, fleet admiral, marine admirals, vice admirals, smoker, the supposedly smartest man in the world and who knows what else they got. I am sure something big will happen that will be directly related to Ace being imprisoned and BB becoming a shichibukai. Maybe Dragon will step in. Who knows, that is why it is so exciting!.
