One Piece 487 – When Brook first met Laboon…

Summary
The chapter begins with Brook and the rest of his pirate crew meeting Laboon, a baby whale (then) in the vast ocean.
They had lots of fun together and all of them love music a lot. When they were about to enter the Grand Line, they felt that they had to leave Laboon behind as the adventures ahead were simply too dangerous for him. Laboon became depressed and wouldn’t listen to any words which the pirates said.
Brook and his pirate crew finally made it into the Grand Line through Reverse Mountain and there, they met the mysterious Crocus. Laboon actually followed them and this startled the whole crew. They then had lots of fun together and after three months, they were forced to part. Brook and his pirate crew set off on their journey into the Grand Line and bade their final farewells to Laboon.
Three years later, they entered the Florian Triangle and the whole pirate crew was annihilated, except for Brook who had the powers of the Yomi Yomi no Mi. As Brook walked around in the dilapidated pirate ship, happy and sad memories of him having fun with his nakama began to flash across his mind.
In one part of his flashbacks, his captain was inflicted with a fatal disease and couldn’t continue on the journey together with them. Captain Yorki asked brook to send him off with his favourite song.
End
I agree with them.

Personal Opinions
A pretty boring chapter to me, except that it does shed some light on Brook’s past, which is quite emotional for me. But well, there really isn’t much to say for this chapter, except that Brook will join Luffy’s crew and after Luffy becomes the Pirate King, they will one day return to see Laboon.
I sure hope the flashbacks will end with this chapter. Let’s hope that next week’s chapter will be even more interesting than this.

yea definitely, Brook will join the Strawhats. Usually, the Strawhats will gain a new crew member at the end of each story arc… and in this arc, Brook appears to be the most suitable candidate.

Luffy had always wanted a Musician for a main crew member. It’s not even a question in the first place. :|

is it just me, or does Brook look a little bit Like Slash from guns-n-roses?
Brook is bound to join, as ODA wouldn’t have spent so long on Brook, and made him such a cool character, if he wasn’t going to join. Really, Brook isn’t given much choice if he wants to see Laboon again.
