Summary

The chapter begins by showing that Zetsu was surprised by Itachi’s sudden death.

Zetsu thought that Itachi should have been stronger than this, and assumed that he might had already been injured even before the battle began. Due to intense fatigue too, Sasuke fell to the ground besides Itachi.

The scene then changed to the fight between Tobi and the Konoha ninjas. Tobi had successfully avoided all of the attacks made by the Konoha ninjas. Naruto thought that the attacks did hit him, but they simply went right through his body. With her Byakugan, Hinata analysed Tobi but found nothing weird with him.

Kakashi then told Shino to get ready and said that at times like this, Shino’s abilities are the most useful. Tobi mentioned that Shino’s bugs are gross. Kiba noticed that Shino was surprisingly pumped up, and Shino replied that that was because he was left out of the previous mission.

Personal Opinions

So Itachi wasn’t really fighting with Sasuke at his full strength… Well, I suppose so. The current Sasuke definitely still ain’t strong enough to defeat Itachi at his best, and his win was definitely a fluke. Hearing Zetsu say that was quite a relief actually. Since Itachi wasn’t really fighting at his full power, does this mean that he was already mentally prepared to be killed by Sasuke? Also, did he really have any intentions to kill Sasuke at all? Was he a kind brother until the very end? I really hope that is indeed the case, as it would shed a different, kinder light on Itachi, as opposed to his usual cold and aloof appearance. In addition, this had already been hinted in one of the earlier chapters when Itachi stood in the rain and was crying (or not) when he heard that Sasuke was killed by Deidara’s explosion. (Which was fake of course.)

Alright, so the battle now is between that of Tobi and the Konoha ninjas. Great! This will definitely be one great battle, seeing so many ninjas against a single one. Also, Tobi seems to be able to let any physical attacks pass through his body. Does this mean that his body is not really a physical body? This seems to remind me of Tayuya’s summoned ghosts…
