Naruto 398 – Origins of Konoha

Summary
The chapter begins with Tobi asking Sasuke whether he knew why Itachi transferred his Amaterasu into him.
He told him that Itachi didn’t want them to meet and if he listen to him, everything will make sense. The only ones who knew the truth about Itachi were the Third Hokage, his two councillors, and Danzou. However, Tobi also knew the truth, and Itachi died without realizing how much he knew. Thus, Itachi tried to kill him with Amaterasu as he didn’t trust him.
At this point, Sasuke was shocked as he couldn’t believe that Itachi was actually protecting him. Tobi told him to think back about his kind brother. There were some flashbacks and Sasuke got agitated and fainted.
When he woke up, he was tied by Tobi with ropes. Tobi then told him that Itachi did kill everyone in the Uchiha clan that night, but that was done on orders from Konoha Village’s leaders. Tobi said that Itachi was a sacrifice.
Sasuke didn’t trust Tobi at all, but Tobi told him that it was up to him to believe him or not. Sasuke then obediently listened.
Tobi began his story and said that eighty years ago, the nations were in countless wars and shinobi clans were hired by the highest bidders to fight for them. Among these shinobi clans, only two were truly feared as the strongest. One of them was the Uchiha clan and the other was the Senju clan of the forest.
At that time, Tobi was born with the greatest, strongest chakra they had ever seen. He killed his brother and his best friend and obtained the perfect Mangekyou Sharingan. Sasuke called him a bastard but Tobi said that thanks to that, he became the leader of the Uchiha clan.
He continued and said that with this power, it was inevitable that he would one day fight with the leader of the Senju clan, Senju Hashirama, the Tree-element user who became the First Hokage. Tobi added that he was the greatest ninja of that time, and he was the only man he had ever admired.
End
Sasuke was stunned upon hearing that.
Should he be trusted? This is too big of a shock!
I can’t see how growing trees can aid one in battle…

Wait a second… So this means the Third Hokage ordered Itachi to massacre the whole Uchiha clan? &*!@#$*)!@&)$ And Itachi actually did just that and completed his mission! I really wonder why he was forced to do that when the Uchiha clan members weren’t doing anything to harm Konoha Village. That’s an insane mission…
On another hand, Tobi definitely looked suave in his younger days… I feel it extremely unfair for all Uchiha clan members to have such good looking faces… Just look at Sasuke, Itachi and Tobi. It’s as if they are the same person throughout! Darn. Naruto is the main character yet… Alright, let’s move on…
So in the later part of the story, Tobi fought with Senju Hashirama and he lost. I’m wondering how on earth could Tree-element techniques be so strong. Remember the fight between the First Hokage and the Third Hokage? The First Hokage grew lots of trees yet it didn’t really much aid him in the battle… Instead, the trees only beautified the landscape.
I really would like to see more of the Tree-element techniques and how strong they really are such that they could even win the Mangekyou Sharingan.

lustrous realm @ yo man, do you remember the theory brought by sum1 named yasha???, that theory was about madara’s dad and was named ‘konoha tengu’(sojobo)…i think that theory is not trash at all!!!…if you read the theory well, you will understand clearly about madara and everything will fit the puzzle!!!…especially why do madara can live that old??!!!…its becoz he is half demon & human..he is nt a normal human after all!!

Wow o.o …. I really hope the next chapter explains this whole dilemma a lot more, cuz I’m still a little confused and surprised about all of this still.

ok, Naruto’s alive for me again. It seems Kishimoto realized how much the last few chapters have pissed many fans off and made it up to us by making Itachi still sorta awesome. Although he’ll never hold his title of “greatest mysterious anime badass” again, I’ll accept that he was forced to slaughter clan Uchiha. btw, the map of clan symbols is awesome looking, i found myself trying to identify clans by their symbols

hahah… i think Konoha’s elder councilors had Itachi and Madara commit genocide on their clan to avoid the possibility of an Uchiha being able to summon the Kyuubi again. for only the mangekyou sharingan can control the Kyuubi. this theory however is probably wrong because of the following facts:
1. Sasuke survived but was not harmed in any way by Konoha but was in fact, revered as a student. (maybe the village elder councilors planned to have him assassinated in the end)
2. Madara and Itachi should also have been assassinated especially since Madara was the one who summoned Kyuubi in the first place and Itachi had Mangekyou activated and could also possibly be able to control Kyuubi.

i think u need the eternal mangekyou sharingan to control kyuubi.( by killing ur sibling and taking there eyes)

in a way he might have eternal mangekyou sharingan since they were transfered from itachi and you might only need the techniques from a sibling. maybe taking the eyes from their sibling was only a way to transfer

Mitigating circumstances: 1 – Though Itachi was ordered to kill Sasuke as well, Itachi could not bring himself to do so, instead forcing Konoha to keep Sasuke safe or risk Itachi going public with his mission. That’s how Sasuke survived and was revered by Konoha.
2 – Its been said that, Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha, an act Itachi Uchiha states to have been Madara’s doing, though Madara denies it. Therefore the truth about Kyuubi’s attack to Konoha still remains withheld. Despite the fact which led us to thoes conclusions, we don’t actually know anything for sure.
PS. I don’t really know how reliable my sources are but it somehow make sense from where I see it.

and yeah you also better not forget that Shodaime Hokage also had the ability to suppress Kyuubi’s chakra not the only Mangekyou Sharingan possessers :)

Madara said that he wasn’t behind behind the Nine-Tails attack, but Itachi said the opposite. But stil, if you analyze the story, it makes sense to say taht Madara lied to Sasuke when he told him that it was just a natural desaster. I say that because because someone who’s note related to the Uchiha story came to the same conclusion: Jiraiya.
The Sannin came to the same conclusion, thinking that Madara, even if the rest of people were thinking he was dead for decades. And the Toad Sage is, except with his chicks research bullshit, is someone whom judgement can be trust; he’s a Sannin after all.
And, for Entelechy: I don’t think Uchiha Madara is the type of person who can be killed easily, even for Itachi. If Itachi had the power to kill him, he would be dead since long… almost 8 or 9 years in fact. And I don’t think Madara could kill Itachi either.

It still did not answer many questions raised from last time, but It Is getting more and more Interesting I have to say.
Guess we will have to wait yet another week to find out more.
