Naruto 399 – Itachi’s Hell

Summary
The chapter begins with Tobi saying that his brother willingly gave up his pair of eyes to him so that he could protect the Uchiha clan.
Tobi told Sasuke that it was for the sake of protecting his clan and not for fame. Shortly after, the Senju clan proposed a truce whereby they should stop being enemies. Both clans agreed but Tobi opposed it, as he couldn’t forget the hatred which the Uchiha clan had for Senju clan. Also, he didn’t want his brother’s sacrifice to go to waste. However, he couldn’t oppose it as the rest of the clan were for it.
Soon after, the Land of Fire wanted the help of ninja clans to protect its territory. Each country would have one village, and Konoha belongs to the Land of Fire. There was a dispute over who should become the First Hokage, and Hashirama was voted by all to be the Hokage. Tobi felt that the Uchiha clan was slowly losing its supremacy and he opposed Hashirama, but no one in his clan followed him.
They said he was greedy and just wanted power. Betrayed by them, Tobi thus left the village. Bent on revenge, he came back one day and challenged Hashirama. However, he was defeated at “The Valley of the End”. He died there, or so everyone thought.
In order to ensure a traitor like Tobi wouldn’t exist again, Hashirama’s younger brother, the Second Hokage, let the Uchiha clan form the Konoha Military Police as a sign of trust. However, the real intention of this action was to keep them under surveillance and to distance them from the governing of the village. Some Uchiha members knew about it and began to rebel against it, but they were too late as the Senju clan has already gained its supremacy in Konoha, and the Uchiha clan was just dogs of Senju clan.
A natural disaster then occurred whereby the Kyuubi attacked Konoha 16 years ago. The Uchiha’s powers are the only thing which could control the Kyuubi, and the Uchiha suspected that it was an act of the Uchiha clan. However, it was actually a natural disaster, not caused by them. They got suspicious and forced them to live in a corner of the village, away from the rest of the population. The Third Hokage voiced his disapproval over this but his advisors and Danzou refused to listen to him.
Finally, it became a reality and the Uchiha clan plotted a rebellion to take over the village. The Konoha leaders then planted a spy in the Uchiha clan, and the spy was Uchiha Itachi. Tobi added that that’s where Itachi’s hell began.

Personal Opinions
Another fantastic flashback chapter. So both Naruto and Bleach are currently doing flashbacks. I wonder if their authors have ran out of ideas for amazing fights and are now trying to get more time… Either way, we still get our weekly dosage of Naruto, and this time, we get a closer look into the origins of Itachi’s hell.
I’m not sure why, but this chapter kind of makes me hate the Senju clan, and my opinion of them now is that they’re just a big bunch of strong bullies. Just because of the suspicions, the Senju clan forced them to be separated from the rest of the village. Such an action would inevitably lead to a rebellion in the long run. In other words, it was the Senju clan who induced the Uchiha’s rebellion.
One interesting to note is that, Tobi, or Madara, wasn’t dead from that battle. How he managed to survive the fight, or even rose up from the dead, is definitely a mystery. I sure hope this would be explained in the next chapter.
Damn, he should take off his mask soon! I wanna see his current face!

i’ve waited so long for this chapter!!!! that aside, i thought tobi/madara was the one who summoned kyuubi to attack konoha. remember kyuubi said madara was the most evil uchiha. maybe tobi just wants to mess up sasuke’s mind by telling half truths. it was said for itachi who had to sacrifice his life, friends and family to be an undercover.

wow i think that it is just getting better because sasuke now has the magekyou sharingan even do he can’t use it at will but still that is still awsome and itachi is just awsome.

There is no reason for not to believe madara…whatever he says is TRUE and he is the good guy also(for loving his little brother)..its just that this war is inevitable for the uchiha(bad luck). What i can’t understand is that kyuubi was a natural disaster after all. Then how come kyuubi knows madara???!!-stating that madara’s chakra was more evil than him!!!!!???…

I just saw the spoilers for chapter 402 (there was only three pages avalible) IN the chapter he starts crying and at the end he has a weird sharigan and claims that he’ll destroy Kohana

i am more concerned with madara. what will happen to akatsuki??…it almost seemed that madara is joined up with sasuke. Afterall, naruto’s perfect rival is sasuke!!!…pfff :-(

Well, It’d be dumb if Naruto wasn’t able to kill Sasuke, cuz he IS the main character. But if Naruto does succeed in killing Sasuke or convincing Sasuke to not destroy Konoha, it’ll be so generic and obvious in my opinion. I hope Kishimoto has something cool and plot twisty in mind. ^^

i seen chapter 404 and akaski and hawk are 1 group now and there gonna use the tailed beast to destroy the village. i have a theaory that there gonna use all the beast to attack khanoha and naruto will have to unseal the ninetailed fox to defend the village. and then naruto will later have to fight sasuke without the fox. then naruto will have to use that power that itachi gave him.( a flash back on chapter 403 were naruto swallows the bird, and itachi warns him) to fight sasuke. and madara will get control of all the tailed beast.( its stated in chapter 404 that hawk is to gather the 8 tails and madara was to collect the 9 tails

Madara said that he wasn’t behind behind the Nine-Tails attack, but Itachi said the opposite. But stil, if you analyze the story, it makes sense to say taht Madara lied to Sasuke when he told him that it was just a natural desaster. I say that because because someone who’s note related to the Uchiha story came to the same conclusion: Jiraiya.
The Sannin came to the same conclusion, thinking that Madara, even if the rest of people were thinking he was dead for decades. And the Toad Sage is, except with his chicks research bullshit, is someone whom judgement can be trust; he’s a Sannin after all.
He also said that Namikaze Minato(Yondaime Hokage) knew something very dangerous was going to happen with the “mysterious” attack of Kitsune Kyuubi no Yokou. It might be possible that Yondaime knew about the evil Uchiha, or worse, that Madara used kyuubi to get the Fourth out of the map. By doing so, the strongest protector of Konoha would be gone and madara could more easily attack. Knowing that, the Fourth maybe had no other choice to fight Kyuubi(it’s Kyuubi after all>> if you don’t fight= you die, and if you fight= you die). But Minato should know that if he died, no one would be able to defend the Leaf, so he had might have no other choice to sealed the beast in his stupid and no-talent son(even if Naruto is the main character), so taht the Uchiha could no longer use Kyuubi and that naruto could fight so powerful opponents as Madara.. and the uchiha who were planning a “coup d’état” (strange word, it’s french if I remember).
And, for Entelechy: I don’t think Uchiha Madara is the type of person who can be killed easily, even for Itachi. If Itachi had the power to kill him, he would be dead since long… almost 8 or 9 years in fact. And I don’t think Madara could kill Itachi either.
In other words, Madara told to Sasuke that it was a natural desaster so that Sasuke could not blame him, get in his side ant to destroy ZE LEEF Villadge >> the opposite of what itachi was trying to do.

Regarding the character Pein..I think Nagato is using the bodies as puppets, similar to Chiyo and Sasori. If u remember the fight btw Pein and Jiraiya, when the bodies were trapped in the genjutsu, the bodies were useless. This could be due to the genjutsu blocking the chackra from the remote Nagato from being transmitted to the 6 bodies which has the chackra receivers or piercings. It was also noted that when one of the bodies were blind…they could still share the same vision…like a surveillance camera. I think it is Nagato in Amegakure(or another spelling) controlling the bodies from his tower. Nagato collects bodies that have certain techniques and utilizes them (which is totally different from Orochimaru).
Also, I dont think Jiraiya is dead due to the fact that:
1. He is in sage mode
2. He transformed into a frog
Nagato only seems powerful as he can control bodies. These bodies share the same vision. If u remember i manga 423 when Kakashi used the Raikiri, 2 eyes was behind Pein and he could reverse the attack, which also proves that Nagato is somewhere else using a forbidden jutsu…which Ino stated was similar to their clan’s.
With regards to Madara/Tobi….I don’t trust him. He is manupulating Sasuke. He is only telling Sasuke half truths. (I wished Itachi was alive..sobbing).
I would love to see a fight between Madara and Pein. :). Ingenious!
Oh…Orochimaru…I dont think he is dead..kabuto revived him in putting pieces of his cells in him. It is taking voer Kabuto.

how bout this. How did Madara even know about all of this? About what Itachi was really doing? There is a lot of information sill missing and we’ll never know until the manga comes out.

I don’t trust Tobi. What is he really up too? The Kyuubi attack was an actual natural disaster…., I don’t buy it. I think he sent the Kyuubi b/c he knew the Senju clan would treat the Uchiha the way they did. Tobi just wants revenge on Konoha. If he really wanted to be there for his clan, then why didn’t he help them rebel? He just let them all get killed. Something is no adding up. I can’t wait to read the next chapter.
